Florida Songwriter Showcase at Margood Harbor Theater March 5th
Goodland, FL – J.Robert’s Florida Songwriter Showcase is continuing its 2018 winter series at the Margood Harbor Theater. The show is a music presentation featuring songwriters who have composed and recorded original Florida music. Every first Monday evening of the month from 6 to 9 pm, songwriters will take the stage to share tales and original music ranging in style from Americana and old timey music to heritage blues and southern rock, as well as trop rock and Caribbean jazz.
The evening includes a performance of original songs, Q & A with the audience, as well as a Nashville style songwriter jam. During the shows, musicians will share personal stories about Florida heritage and inspiration for their songwriting and musical talents.
The Florida Songwriters Showcase continues March 5th with:
Michael Oakland – Tropic Gypsy meets Django Reinhardt – a quiet gift to SW Florida!
Captn Jac – Trop Rock Beach Party sailor, songster, and RadioA1A mainstay
Terry Lynn Melody- Fresh from the songwriter’s kitchen, Terry’s tasty songs “own” eclectic!
In attendance will be master of percussion Tim Griffin and Nancy R. Koerner “The Queen of Harmony.”
This event is produced and directed by J.Robert Houghtaling, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and film score composer, who has developed friendships with many talented songwriters. “Songwriting isn’t just about making music…it’s a lifestyle!”
Margood Harbor Park Theater, with its pavilions and playgrounds wrapped around a charming harbor is a perfect backdrop for this live music, and local flavor event,

“Captn Jac was the latest to entertain the Marco Players Theatre crowd. Captn Jac has been doing his Jimmy Buffett tribute show for years—but his performance Monday July 31 showed that he has plenty of Trop-Rock chops himself.
It’s hard not to think of Jimmy Buffett— who wrote the Tiki Bar song to end all Tiki Bar songs, “Margaritaville”—when listening to Captn Jac. And Captn Jac doesn’t hide his affection for Buffett, wearing a Margaritaville ball cap to top his unusual jacket that looks like a prop from a bygone pirate movie. Captn Jac even performed at Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant in Key West.
Captn Jac’s set of originals had the audience clapping their hands and tapping their feet as the hour seemed to slip by quickly. But there was more for the audience after a get-together provided the audience an opportunity to enjoy a drink, conversation, and pick up a CD or two. Following a question and answer period, Captn Jac joined JRobert and friends for a jam session that many feel is a highlight of the Florida Songwriter Showcase.”
